Add Click Filter on JSon Data in Android App Using PHP MySQL

In this tutorial we would going to learn about filter techniques on JSon data directly coming from server. Filter is the base of every android application which has more than 10 records because without the proper filter an android user cannot find the right content its been looking for.

What we are doing in this project ( Project Description )

This project contains two different activities MainActivity.java file and ShowDetailsActivity.java file. On our online server we have stored more than 50 mobile phone records. When the application started it will start a web call and parse JSon data coming from server then remove the repeated Mobile Category Name using HashSet and set that sorted data into ListView. This List only contain the mobile Category Name. When a user click on ListView item then we would retrieve the clicked item value using ListView setOnItemClickListener() method and send that selected value to next activity using intent.putExtra() method.

After sending the clicked value on next activity we would receive that value using getIntent() method and start a web call using Category .That category name send on the server using POST method from android application, After sending we would fetch that category name on server using $_POST method and run a SQL query. SQL query would return us a complete already sorted data object called as JSon Response. We would parse that Response that in our app and show the filter data in listview. 2. Create database with table on your server :

Create a database on your server and inside that database create a table named as MobileDetails with three columns ID, MobileCompany, MobileName . Insert some records in the table. Screenshot of my server table is below.

3. Upload PHP files on server to Parse filter JSon data coming from server :

Now upload the MobileData.php , CategoryFilter.php, DatabaseConfig.php file on your server.

4. Run the uploaded PHP script :

Now we would run the MobileData.php file which returns us the whole MySQL data into JSon .

5. Start a new android application development project.

6. Add org.apache.http.legacy library in your project :

    • Helder there is no need to use volley because httpURLconnection is lighter then volley .

      • thanks for quick answer, my doubt is, the rest of my project is with volley, is there any compatibility problems with using httpURL connection with it? because sometimes i get some deprecated error
